During these 100 days of commemoration, we stand with our Rwandan brothers and sisters as Kwibuka30 begins. A time to Remember, Unite & Renew as we commemorate the victims, the survivors and the progress that has been made in Rwanda in the 30 years since the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi.

As I’ve been reading through John 13-17 over the last few months, the word “Abide” leaps off the pages as I hear Jesus’s voice say to his disciples, “Abide.”

86 million children are out of school as a result of war around the world in the 25 countries that we are praying about serving in.

In 2022, I enjoyed reading these books that opened my mind to deeper levels of personal reflection, new concepts of what leadership entails and, topics that expanded my imagination. I hope you will pick up one or more from this list for your next reading adventure.

Serving as the chief steward of the KICS Vision, Mission and Values has and continues to be such a great joy. When the Lord called us into this role in 2014, amidst much uncertainty as a family around Susie’s health, and at a time of significant transition for the KICS community, we had no idea all that God has had in store.

This is a phrase that is shared throughout various classrooms in schools, seminar spaces and lecture halls. I must say I have found this to be true at every interaction with any levels of leaders. Most often, I find leaders not only reading one book, but often two books at a time.

I strongly believe in the power of communities to confound our modern culture by daring to take the road less traveled. Here are three commitments we can make to build a community that confounds culture.

Like many of you, I have a heart for education. Not just education, but transformative education that is rooted and grounded in the love of Jesus Christ. I dedicate my energy, effort, and experience to bless children through the gift of education.

In following these three practices, I hope you find the courage you need to take the next step. To proceed properly on the pathway He provides. Don’t look for shortcuts, don’t look for the easy way out, and don’t give up. God has called you, He has equipped you, He has entrusted a piece of His earthly kingdom to you. You are His ambassador to your family, to your business, and to your community.
